Cora Mills, LCSW
I’ve always been interested in caring for people well. Like most people in helping professions, I consider myself a good listener and have a desire to help people. When I started college, I knew I wanted to go into psychology and was introduced to the concept of social justice almost immediately. In my work with clients, my desire to be understanding and compassionate is paired with an innate passion for helping people find their way back to themselves - or discover who they are. We all have a basic dignity that is worth of respect and care. We often do not treat ourselves as if that were true. There are complex and difficult reasons for this, and cultural context, intersectionality and generational patterns all contribute to our ability to understand and embody our truest selves. I truly care about my patients’ well-being and guarantee top of the line counseling and psychological services catered to their needs.
I am a life long learner and am always curious, so I seek out more training and education constantly to provide the most evidenced based and up to date treatment models. I am also pretty creative and tend to think outside the box in my approach. It is not uncommon for me to incorporate art, music, movement and laughter into sessions.
I've worked in a number of settings including hospitals, foster care agencies, group homes, residential facilities, schools and out patient settings, providing care to people of all ages from all walks of life. Get in touch with me today for more information.
